Ship Familarisation Courses

 

  • Join us for this tailored three day course, designed specifically for candidates looking to gain or extend their ship knowledge and familiarisation. Our hands on programme of events culminates with the opportunity to take charge of a state-of-the-art ship simulator.
  • Visit a variety of working vessels to understand the different cargo types found in the port of Liverpool.
  • Gain an overview of technical vessel characteristics (for example: machinery, cargo holds, hatch covers, mooring cargo handling equipment).
  • Visit various port storage areas.
  • Look at cargo handling techniques.
  • Inspect some vessels currently in dry-dock (under repair - out of water).
  • Be taken through the docks and lock procedure/mooring arrangements during a designated visit.
  • Introduction to basic navigation and passage planning techniques by specialist lecturers.
  • Course attendees get to take control of a vessel in a state of the art ship simulator, crossing one of the busiest stretches of water in the world - the Dover Straights.

The cost per person is £825.00 + VAT, subject to a sufficient number of attendees, which includes all simulator costs, local travel, accommodation and food. We also provide safety clothing. All we ask is that attendees make their own way to Liverpool for 11.15am on day one. You will be shown around by our in-house engineering, cargo and nautical surveyors, relaying our experience to you.
